On March 25th Barbara Mason Taylor, President and Virginia P. Bland Second Vice president of The League of Allied Arts Joined League member Honorable/Senator Diane Watson, at the Lula Washington Dance Theatre, Los Angeles, for “ An Evening with Dorothy Butler Gilliam”, author of “Trailblazer”
Dorthy Butler Gilliam is the first African American female reporter to be hired by The Washington Post. Known as a “ national treasure” who didn’t just shatter racial and gender barriers at the Washington Post, but pioneered a way for writing about African Americans that was accurate, balanced and compassionate.
Senator Diane Watson had the honor to introduced this phenomenal woman not only as a “natural treasure” but also an inspiration for our young black talented journalist of today and the future. Thanks to Diane, the event was well attended.
